Hard to come by

Now that the rose of your
good fortune is blooming,
why are you standing there
with no glass in your hand?
Have some wine–
fate is a treacherous enemy,
And a day like this
is hard to come by.

~Omar Khayyám (trans. Juan Cole)

(and thanks to Lisa, who passed this along. A strong woman, who does not seek her? Her worth is far above that of rubies.)

I'm glad you enjoyed, too :)

Such perspective is so important, as it is so easy for us all to be subsumed into the mean and petty distractions of a life.

I believe our survival and beyond that our ability to thrive depends on our finding a way to be uplifted. I can often find that inspiration in the poet's words.
